Rezension von Laura SpitzEasy read, für den Urlaub ganz gemütlich. Die Erzählerin ist extrem nervig, aber genau das macht das Buch irgendwie aus. Obwohl sie eine furchtbare Petson ist, fiebert man irgendwie mit ihr mit und hofft, dass sie nicht auffliegt.

Rezension von sunaEmma Clines neuer Roman "Die Einladung", übersetzt aus dem Englischen („The Guest“) von Monika Baark hat mich so gefesselt, dass ich ihn an einem Tag durchgelesen habe. Die Protagonistin nimmt uns mit in die Blase der Reichen und Schönen in den Hamptons und erzählt über Sehnsüchte, Reichtum und Machtgefälle, Drogenmissbrauch und ein klein wenig über sie selbst. Das Erzähltempo war wahnsinnig schnell– für mich manchmal auch zu schnell–und einige Sätze fand ich so schön, dass ich gerne mehr dieser poetischeren Beschreibungen gehabt hätte. Auch das Leseerlebnis war irgendwie durchgehend stressig, da man merkt, dass alles auf ein großes Crescendo hinausläuft, ständig schlechte Entscheidungen getroffen werden und niemand so wirklich sympathisch ist. Außerdem bin ich mir über das Ende bin noch sehr unsicher (und bin gespannt, was wir dazu im Buchclub besprechen) und ich bin mir nicht sicher, wie lange die Geschichte bei mir haften bleibt. Ein Pluspunkt hingegen hat für mich definitiv der Sog, den dieses Buch ausstrahlt, auch wenn das Lesen immer wieder durch die Protagonist:innen und Thematiken unangenehm stressig ist.
Rezension von FrankaThis book is just annoying, but still I couldn’t stop reading it hahah It quite disturbs me how the old man she wanted to get back to, is her only sign of excitement and hope, while letting everyone on her path down. Really have mixed feelings about this one and very curious what my friends will think about it!
