Rezension von VanessaaaDemon × Human? ✔️ Alexandria Bellefleur? ✔️ On paper, this sounded like something I’d really enjoy. So how did it end up at 3.5 stars? Because somehow I felt like I’d already read this story… about thirty times. 😅 Not this exact plot, but the overall dynamic. A lot of the story beats felt very familiar, so I kept predicting where things were going—and, more often than not, I wasn’t wrong. The writing itself? Absolutely fine. Bellefleur’s style is as easy to read as ever. The premise? Great. The execution? That’s where it lost me. For the first half I kept waiting for the characters to become… well… characters. Around the 75% mark I literally thought: “Oh! They finally have personalities!” Unfortunately, that’s a little late in a 336-page novel. My biggest issue was the romance. It felt like several emotional steps happened off-page. Flirting. ↓ Sex. ↓ Trauma dump. ↓ “You’re the love of my life.” Me: ”…Wait, did I accidentally skip three chapters?” 😂 I wanted to experience that emotional journey instead of simply being told it had happened. By the end, I genuinely liked Daphne a lot more, and I was happy they got their happy ending. I just wish the emotional depth had arrived about 150 pages earlier. Overall, a solid read with a great premise, but one that never quite reached its full potential for me.
Rezension von kenunfortunately, plot is never enough. in that way it had all the potential in the world. i only don’t like the way it is written and find it bland, so even if it has the most riveting plot, the vehicle it’s on can only do so much. the dialogue is funny and snappy. if it could carry the book, it would have.
