Not a review but my favorite part: You know what is at the heart of misogyny? When it comes down to it?' 'So I'm a misogynist now?' It's simply about not giving, she said. Whether it's believing you should not give us the vote or not give help with the dishes - it's all clitched onto the same wagon.' 'Hitched,' Cathal said. 'What?' It's not "cliched", he said. It's "hitched"? You see?' she said. 'Is not this just more of it? You knew exactly what I meant - but you cannot even give me this much.' He had looked at her then and again saw something ugly about himself reflected back at him, in her gaze. 'Can you not even understand what I am talking about?' She seemed to be genuinely asking, looking not for an argument but an answer.
mein zweites buch von claire keegan und diese frau hat es schon wieder geschafft solch klein scheinenden momenten so viel bedeutung zu geben. ich liebs sehr!
What should I say? Cathal is an asshole and doesn't get it. He thinks cherries are too expensive, women are cunts and regards it funny when his 60-year-old mother's chair is pulled away and she falls on the floor. Then he beats an insect to death and remembers how his fiancée dumped him just before the wedding. But she is a cunt, as he remembers. End of the story. I’m sad that I had expected a better reading experience because the book was a present.
