From Lauren Oliver, New York Times bestselling author of Before I Fall and the Delirium trilogy, comes an epic, masterful novel that explores issues of individuality, identity, and humanity.Lyra’s story begins in the Haven Institute, a clandestine research facility off the coast of Florida, where thousands of replicas, or human models, are born, raised, and observed. When a surprise attack is launched on Haven, two of its young experimental subjects—Lyra and the boy known only as 72—manage to escape.Gemma has been in and out of hospitals for as long as she can remember. After she is nearly abducted by a stranger claiming to know her, Gemma starts to investigate her family’s past—and discovers her father’s connection to the mysterious Haven research facility. Hungry for answers, she travels to Florida, only to stumble upon two replicas and a completely new set of questions. While the stories of Lyra and Gemma mirror each other, each contains breathtaking revelations critically important to the other story. Turn the book one way and read Lyra’s story; turn the book over and upside down and read Gemma’s story. The two distinct parts of this novel combine to produce an unforgettable experience for its two young heroines—and its reader.

So Replica. This was an experience. First of all I started off reading Gemmas chapter first and then switching between Chapters to Lyra. I think it's the only way it makes actually sense, because I could imagine otherwise the story would feel onesided on the one hand and boring on the other.
Like many before I felt that Lyra's side was not as well developed as Gemma's, but I think it improved in later chapters. I actually liked all the characters, though I thought that 72 was a bit weird at first.
I am always a sucker for clone stories so I had high hopes for this and I liked the story, but it was different than expected. In some way I expected something like "Never Let me go", but it seemed lighter, not the story itself, but the writing. It was no literal masterpiece, but easy to read.
The worst thing was, seeing my booksmarks getting closer to each other and realizing that I won't get a conclusion in this book and that there has t be a second.
Now I am kind of wondering how long that second book will be, seeing how much happened in this book. I fear it might not deliver as much. I can't imagine what else could happen. But I guess we'll have to see.
I actually really really liked Gemma because I could relate to her on so many levels aka not feeling normal, feeling bad for being chubby and and and... I am now super eager to see how her relationship with her parents will evolve.
Overall a very entertaining and fast read, despite it's length.
