People say there’s a fine line between love and hate. If you ask Grady Armstrong, the line’s as obvious as the one across the middle of a hockey rink.So he can’t explain why he doesn’t walk away when his Grindr hookup—a guy who accused him of impersonating himself—turns out to be Max Lockhart, a rival player Grady once punched in the face. Apparently Max can goad him just as well off the ice as he can on it.Max Lockhart showed up thinking he was going to expose a fake. Instead he hooks up with a guy who claims to hate him. And has a good time. A really good time. But that doesn’t mean players from different teams can be together.Max has always wished Grady would relax a little. When the season starts and Grady accepts Max’s offer of help with finding someone to date for real, Max gets his wish. But he should’ve been careful what he wished for, because now that he knows Grady is a big softie under that prickly shell, he’d rather keep Grady for himself.Grady only goes on a handful of dates before he realizes he has a lot more fun with Max. But he can’t be falling for a rival player… can he?

As an NHL player, relationships haven't been my thing. Shrouded in secrecy and specula-tion, they never last very long. But then that's what happens when you require an NDA be-fore the first date. Until Charlene. She's like a firefly. She's elusive, and if you catch her she'll burn bright, but keeping her trapped dulls her fire and dims her beauty. I caught her. And as much as I might want to keep her, I'll never put the lid on her jar. Not at the risk of losing her. So I've let her set the rules in our relationship. But as long hidden secrets expose us both, I discover exactly how fragile Charlene is, and how much I need her. We're all broken. We're all messed up. Some more than others. Me more than most.

Pine Valley is a school rich in both history and legacy and is once more opening its doors to another year of students. Evan Shaw has wanted to be a photographer for as long as he can remember, and Pine Valley is the place to go to make that happen. Alek Anders doesn't believe in love, nor does he have the time for it. He can't chase his dreams like all the rich college kids around him, he has his family to look after and food to keep on the table. Then comes Evan. Everything he's not, he pushes all of Alek's buttons. Love is fickle, though, and when students start showing up dead, they will either have to work together or fall apart to discover the truth. Can the past be undone and hope be found even in the darkness? Can Evan and Alek withstand what Pine Valley has in store for them, or will racing hearts be all that's left?

Hot in Chicago series author Kate Meader returns with her all new, scorching Chicago Rebels hockey series, featuring her signature “steamy sex scenes, colorful characters, and riveting dialogue” (Romantic Times). Three estranged sisters inherit their late father’s failing hockey franchise and are forced to confront a man’s world, their family’s demons, and the battle-hardened ice warriors skating into their hearts. Harper Chase has just become the most powerful woman in the NHL after the death of her father Clifford Chase, maverick owner of the Chicago Rebels. But the team is a hot mess—underfunded, overweight, and close to tapping out of the league. Hell-bent on turning the luckless franchise around, Harper won’t let anything stand in her way. Not her gender, not her sisters, and especially not a veteran player with an attitude problem and a smoldering gaze designed to melt her ice-compacted defenses. Veteran center Remy “Jinx” DuPre is on the downside of a career that’s seen him win big sponsorships, fans’ hearts, and more than a few notches on his stick. Only one goal has eluded him: the Stanley Cup. Sure, he’s been labeled as the unluckiest guy in the league, but with his recent streak of good play, he knows this is his year. So why the hell is he being shunted off to a failing hockey franchise run by a ball-buster in heels? And is she seriously expecting him to lead her band of misfit losers to a coveted spot in the playoffs? He’d have a better chance of leading Harper on a merry skate to his bed…

When I see the ad in Portland Alternative's "Love Wanted" section, I can't resist the urge to respond. I have three superstitions I live by:1. No dating all season.2. Don't jinx a no-hitter while one's in progress. 3. Be cold-hearted. If you find something you think about more than baseball, destroy it. Calliope Thomas is one of those things. Ever since she left a bad review on the Max Energy Drink I endorse, I haven't been able to stop thinking about her. Obviously, when she said she hoped I had a losing season, I had to meet her and get her to take the words back. Now, she's making me do insane things. Like, obsess over the color of her panties or if I can make her blush. Read superstition one-I don't do this sort of thing. I play ball, not chase after a woman I barely know. But, I am, and she wants nothing to do with me. She thinks I'm the devil. And I have to say she makes me want to sin. I'm becoming a borderline stalker. And to make matters worse she's affecting my game. I can't pitch. I can't hit. I can't focus. Something needs to give, and it won't be me.
