Rezension von RojdaOn the Savage Side ist wirklich schwierig zu lesen. Ich wusste, dass es kein happy end geben wird, schließlich ist das Buch von wahren Begebenheiten über vermisste und ermordete Frauen inspiriert... aber ich habe trotzdem auf ein kleines bisschen Sonnenschein gehofft. Es ist so poetisch und unglaublich schön geschrieben. Fast jeden Satz kann ich mir als Tattoo oder in einem Bilderrahmen als Dekoration vorstellen. Dieses Buch hat mich mit voller Wucht in eine kalte, nasse Umarmung gezogen. Gleichzeitig liebevoll aber unangenehm.
Rezension von HannahRezension zu On the Savage Side von Tiffany McDaniel Die Geschichte von Arc und Daffy hat mich von Anfang an gefesselt. Ihr Leben in einer von Armut, Sucht und Gewalt geprägten Kleinstadt ist bewegend und traurig zugleich. Tiffany McDaniel beschreibt ihre Welt sehr eindrucksvoll und eindringlich. Mit dem Ende habe ich so nicht gerechnet – es hat mich überrascht und noch lange beschäftigt. Allerdings fiel mir das Lesen nicht immer leicht. Obwohl ich viel auf Englisch lese, war der Schreibstil anspruchsvoll und manchmal schwer verständlich. Die Sprache ist bildhaft und poetisch, aber auch verschachtelt, was den Lesefluss erschwert. Trotzdem ist es eine Geschichte, die im Kopf bleibt. Ein bewegendes, aber auch forderndes Buch, das einen nachdenklich zurücklässt.
