This is a dark academia fantasy that follows 6 students of Blackwood Academy as they compete in the Decennial. This event happens once a decade, and the winner gets to choose their own future. They are already dead, living in the afterlife.... where will they go from here? This is a YA book, but I really enjoyed it and look forward to the second book !

3.75 stars. I loved the premise of the book and having the story set in after life was such a great idea. The characters felt very distinguished from each other, pretty thought out and this was a well-done debut. this book just wasn’t… revolutionary in any sense. Some parts of the plot were quite predictable and the world-building was lacking in some parts. I am really hoping for the second book to dive in deeper and make up for the few weak points! I still feel like I’m gonna miss some of the characters which speaks for itself 👀

Eine Schule im Jenseits und viele viele Geheimnisse. I. V. Marie führt die Leser in eine Zwischenwelt und stellt uns sechs Protagonisten vor. Die POV‘s wechseln immer wieder, das fand ich persönlich leider eher ein Störfaktor, da man sich nicht richtig in die Charaktere hineinversetzen konnte und eher oberflächlich als dritte Person alles mitbekommen hat. Das Ende war ein Plot Twist, mit dem man nicht wirklich gerechnet hat. Insgesamt war es ein interessantes und schönes abwechslungsreiches Buch für zwischendurch, aber nichts wo ich drauf poche, den nächsten Band noch lesen zu werden.
