Ice Ice Baby Author: Carly Robyn ARC Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 Spice: 🌶️🌶️.5 Tropes: - Sports Romance - Black Cat × Golden Retriever - He's obsessed with her - Slow Burn - Strangers to Lovers - Opposites attract - Book Manager × Hockey player - Banter - Dual POV Ice Ice Baby felt like a warm comforting blanket which I'd turn to after a long stressful day. The story is slow paced, slow burn romance that starts with simmering tension with constant push and pull between Maya and Cole. Maya is a bookstore manager who is a hopeless romantic by heart but believes real love does not exist in real life, at least for her. In true black cat personality sense, she seems closed off at first but for people she loves, she's fiercely protective. Nicholas "Cole" Berett is the captain of Boston Bobcats, dedicating his life to hockey and making his dreams true — until his eyes landed on Maya, who happens to be least interested in hockey. Instantly enamored by her candor and passion for books, he is on a mission to make her fall in love with him. With Maya's hyperindependency and apprehension towards Cole, Cole is determined to prove he is her happily ever forever! With their constant back and forth banter, simmering chemistry and unfurling of the complexity of their characters the story paints a beautiful picture of their struggle of finding each other. I absolutely adored Maya's character development, it made me fall in love with the characters all over again. The book also touches the topic of off page death of a sibling, abandonment issues and absent parent. If you love a sports romance with multilayered characters and amazing friendships, get this book!
