Rezension von Caroll-Ann📖 History Is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 4,5 stars This book follows Griffin after the death of his ex-boyfriend Theo and explores his journey through grief, mental health struggles, friendship, family, and love. The four main characters are brilliantly written and incredibly complex. They all have their flaws, make mistakes, and face their own personal struggles, yet none of them can truly be considered the villain of the story. There were moments when I disliked Griffin, moments when I disliked Jackson (Theo’s new boyfriend), and plenty of moments when I disliked Theo, probably more than anyone else, to be honest. Griffin is not only dealing with the loss of his first love but also struggling with OCD. Adam Silvera portrays both grief and mental illness in a powerful and authentic way. His depiction feels relatable, and I especially appreciated that he doesn’t present love as a magical cure for Griffin’s problems, which is an unrealistic trope often found in books. This story is deeply emotional and will definitely pull at your heartstrings. I found myself caring about all four main characters, even though Wade doesn’t play a major role until later in the novel. I’m so glad I read this book and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an emotional, character-driven story.
Rezension von LenaVery very cood and well written book i like the two POV's of the story the today and the past parts is really good, never cried so much over a book while reading i love the story and the plot, took me a whole week to process this book, and what i thinkt it is a very underrated book from this author and i want more people to read this absolute masterpiece
Rezension von bucketi_2006 Griffin verliert seinen Freund zwei Mal. Erst, weil dieser nun einen neuen hat und dann weil dieser stirbt. Ich mochte am Buch, dass es immer zwischen der Gegenwart und der Vergangenheit wechselte, also zwischen der Zeit in der Theo und Griffin zusammen sind und der Zeit in der Griffin versucht mit dem Tod seines Freundes zurechtzukommen. Dies sorgte am Anfang für einen guten Wechsel zwischen traurigen und glücklichen Passagen. Auch gefiel mir der Schreibstil. Griffin tritt in den Gegenwartskapiteln in Dialog mit seinen Exfreund. An einer Stelle spielt Silvera mit diesem Schreibstil, was mich sehr überrascht und beeindruckt hat. Außerdem schafft es Silvera mal wieder den Leser zum Weinen zu bringen. Diese Geschichte berührt einen zutiefst. Wieso also nur 4 Sterne? Ich fand das Buch zu lang. Nicht unbedingt von der Story her, sondern einfach generell. Dadurch dass das Buch einen so ergreift und mitnimmt, wird es irgendwann anstrengend weiter zu lesen. Vielleicht liegt dies aber auch nur daran, dass ich das Buch auf Englisch gelesen habe. Grundsätzlich kann ich das Buch nur weiterempfehlen!

I'm also honest, towards the end I skimmed the book more than actually read it because I just wanted to finish it. I found the last chapter very nice and it ended the book very well, but unfortunately it was too long for me
