I really wanted to enjoy this book, but it fell short of what it promised. Listening to the book I was super confused. I didn’t quite follow everything that was happening. I think the book would have been improved a bit if it were longer, giving time for better worldbuilding and giving the characters a better chance. I felt unable to connect to any of the characters and they lacked any sort of character development. I also felt really uncomfortable with the main character referring to herself as barbaric. I felt it was disrespectful to indigenous people and colonised people. I was also really weirded out and confused with the love interest and felt like it hadn’t giving time to fully develop and them referring to each other as lil sis and big sis.
