Rezension von LizaRating: 3.5⭐️ Fireborne caught me off guard, in a good way. I came in expecting a fast-paced, dragon-filled fantasy, but what I got was something much more introspective and political. Instead of flashy battles, the story digs into the aftermath of a revolution and the difficult choices people have to make when trying to build something better from the ashes. Annie and Lee are the emotional heart of the book, and their relationship is full of quiet tension, loyalty, and complicated history. I especially connected with Lee, his internal conflict over who he was born to be versus who he’s trying to become felt honest and heavy. I appreciated how restrained their dynamic was. It never tipped into melodrama, which made it feel more real, even if I sometimes wanted just a little more emotional payoff. That said, the book didn’t fully hook me the way I hoped. The pacing drags at times, and there were stretches where the political world-building took center stage and left me a bit disconnected. It’s smart and well thought-out, but it occasionally felt like the story got caught up in its own ideas. The foundation is strong, though, and I can see this world, and these characters, deepening in future books. I may not be racing to the sequel, but part of me is still curious where Annie and Lee’s story goes from here.
