📖 It Was Always You by Lisa Hobman ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫✨ 3,75 stars I received an ARC of this book and was really excited to dive into it. I’m always up for a sweet romance, and the premise of It Was Always You sounded right up my alley. Lily and Adam have been inseparable since primary school, growing up as best friends and being a constant in each other’s lives. When Lily realises at eighteen that she’s actually in love with Adam, she keeps it to herself because she’s too afraid of risking their friendship. Years later, after Adam’s life has taken a few turns and he finds himself single and heartbroken, he turns to Lily, the one person who has always been there for him. As she helps him rebuild his life, they both start to wonder if maybe this could finally be their moment… or if they’ve already missed their chance. I have to say, I really enjoyed this book overall. I thought the writing was lovely, and I liked both Lily and Adam as characters. That being said, they also frustrated me SO much at times. 😂 Seriously, these two could have saved themselves years of heartache if they had simply TALKED to each other. So much time was wasted because neither of them could bring themselves to actually communicate about their feelings. And Adam in particular could be unbelievably oblivious at times. There were moments when I genuinely wanted to shake him and yell, “HOW ARE YOU NOT SEEING THIS?!” 😂 But honestly, that’s also very much the point of the story. This is a very slow-burn friends-to-lovers romance filled with missed opportunities, unspoken feelings and second chances. If you enjoy watching two people who have loved each other for years finally figure out what everyone else can already see, this could definitely be a book for you. It was a sweet, enjoyable read, even if Lily and Adam tested my patience more than once. 😂
