Rezension von Olivia Sehr süße Geschichte, aber bei dem Ende bin ich sehr hin und her gerissen, ob ich es gut oder schlecht finden. Lohnt sich definitiv für Buchclubs o.ä. da es viel Potenzial für Diskussionen beinhaltet.
Rezension von Eva SpringethEven though Jess and Josh weren't the most relatable characters to me personally, and it being something very different from what I usually read, it made me turn the page over and over again. It felt never boring or dragging. Talking about Josh, he's someone I'm still unable to form a proper idea of his character. On one hand, he was indeed problematic sometimes: made Jess feel small, was maybe even ashamed of her and sad difficult things. On the other hand, I assume he didn't said it with the intention of hurting Jess. It were just his opinion and beliefs he was puerly convinced of. Also in his favor spoke his love to Jess. Even after she left for so long and blocked him out of her life he waited for her and still wanted her to come back. Does that mean he realized that his words were a mistake? Idk. Because at the end he did choose the republicans anyway and probably kept his head. Talking about Jess, I admire her strong beliefs in her values and how she kept them throughout the book (or did she?). But in some other way she let them fade a little and just accept that "everything's fine". And shout down about some of her opinions for the sake of her relationship with Josh. The whole relationship of them both is still kind of a puzzle for me. Was it the "right thing" to return to NYC for her? Would she have been better off without Josh? Likewise it contained quite a few lines that stuck with me, such as not having a problem with the system itself, as with your own place in it. Or how our souls need relationships where there's no need to explain anything. Though, the most painful part of the book to me was, the progressive death of Jess dad (even tough it wasn't that big of a part in the book itself). Probably because I love my dad so much and it is one of the number one worst things that could happen to me tbh. It demonstrated how quickly life can turn around, and that life's meant to be appreciated in the moment.
