We suffer and survive. Ein Satz den ihr wieder und wieder in Blood like Magic lesen werdet und auch ein Satz, der das Buch perfekt zusammenfasst. An dieser Stelle eine kurze "Warnung", es geht hier viel um Gewalt, Sklaverei und die historischen Folgen davon, die Generationen überstehen. Ich mochte das Buch insgesamt sehr gern. Es liefert einen tieferen Einblick in eine Kultur mit der ich selbst kaum Berührungspunkte habe und das ist einer der spannendsten Punkte. Die unterschiedlichen Subkulturen zu erleben und wie mit einander verwoben sind. Gemixt mit einer prise Magie und Cyberpunk (ja, das ganze spielt in der Zukunft). Aber ich muss auch sagen, dass die Protagonistin Voya einfach nicht für mich war. Kapitel um Kapitel geht es nur darum wie unentschlossen sie ist und wenn sie eine Entscheidung trifft bereut sie diese zwei Kapitel lang. Andere können sich sicher darin wiederspiegeln, aber für mich hat es sich sehr gestreckt angefühlt. Außerdem sollte man darauf vorbereitet sein, dass die Geschichte nicht wirklich ein gutes Ende nimmt. Was das bedeutet und wie es zu interpretieren ist, ist natürlich der Leser:in selbst erlassen. Aber: We suffer and survive.
