When Katara and her brother Sokka of the Southern Water Tribe rescue a mysterious boy named Aang, who has been trapped in a glacier, it appears that he is one of the Airbenders, a race of people not seen in a century, and the long-lost Avatar whose destiny is to save the world from war with the Fire Nation.
