Dezember 1923 in Courtrai, Belgien, geboren, am 16. Juli 2001 in Brüssel verstorben, gilt er allenthalben als einer der überragendsten Comicautoren des 20. Jahrhunderts. René Goscinny wurde am 14. August 1926 in Paris geboren. 1949 lernte er Morris in New York kennen. Er zog nach Belgien und übernahm das Texten für Lucky Luke, seinen ersten großen Erfolg. 1959 war er Mitbegründer des Pilote-Magazins, wo er gemeinsam mit Albert Uderzo Asterix veröffentlichte. Goscinny starb 1977 an einem Herzinfarkt in Paris.
