Rezension von zara wrightvery interesting and thought provoking. the ending was unexpected but cleared things up. i'm glad i'm reading this for college as i would like to read between the lines with this one.
Rezension von Emilia LouMir hat es noch nie Freude bereitet, ein Theaterstück/Drama zu lesen, aber Tennessee Williams hat mich hier wirklich allein durch die Sprache, die Charakterentwicklung, die Beschreibungen vollkommen zu überzeugen, obwohl ich noch keine Perfomance des Stücks gesehen habe. Es war eine so gute Leseerfahrung, der Stil so poetisch, die Geschichte so tragisch und gesellschaftskritisch und auch überraschend, zu Anfang hätte ich wirklich mit einem ganz anderen Ausgang gerechnet.

And if that is sinful, then ketne be dammed for it!" Surprisingly, I really enjoyed reading this drama. I actually don't like any of the characters, which makes it even more interesting. It was a really emotional and shocking read. "Thousands and thousands of years have passed him right by, and here he is -Stanley Kowalksi- survivor of the stone age! Bearing the raw meat home from his kill in the jungle! And you- you here- waiting for him! Maybe he'll strike you or maybe grunt and kiss you! That is, if kisses have been discovered yet! Night falls and the other apes gather! There in the front of the cave, all grunting like him, and swilling and gnawing and hulking! His poker night!- you call it-this party of apes!"
Rezension von Carlos R. DiazNo other American play in literature makes me reach for the Kleenex other than this masterpiece by one of its greatest playwrights. The supporting character Mitch, the unabashed mama's boy who longs to marry a good, decent woman to please his mother, tugs at my heartstrings and his characterization hits way too close to home. There's also Stanley, that beast of man and microcosm for American masculinity, who yells: "STELLA." This is a masterpiece worthy of repeated readings. That is all.
