For all its heteronormativity, this book is insightful and makes good (but not too in-depth as to overwhelm) use of Jung's concepts of archetypes and the idea of projection, especially the anima. The one crucial thing I learned from it was the claim that romance and true love cannot coexist, and the author makes a good argument for it as it manifests in most relationships. Not me though. I contain so many multitudes I can idealize my beloved and love her for who she is.
