The Last Song
von Nicholas Sparks
From the author of A Walk to Remember comes a moving tale of redemption and first love when a rebellious teenager decides to spend the summer with her estranged father in a North Carolina beach town.Seventeen year old Veronica "Ronnie" Miller's life was turned upside-down when her parents divorced and her father moved from New York City to Wilmington, North Carolina. Three years later, she remains angry and alienated from her parents, especially her father...until her mother decides it would be in everyone's best interest if she spent the summer in Wilmington with him. Ronnie's father, a former concert pianist and teacher, is living a quiet life in the beach town, immersed in creating a work of art that will become the centerpiece of a local church. The tale that unfolds is an unforgettable story of love on many levels--first love, love between parents and children -- that demonstrates, as only a Nicholas Sparks novel can, the many ways that love can break our hearts . . . and heal them.

I loved it. Because it's a story about true love, about a crime, about intrigues, about family-relationships and though it seems like a real story which could happen every day. Ronnie, the main character, a 17-year-old girl is authentic. I don't understand how Sparks can describe a teenie girl with her feelings so well. What's he? He's a man, isn't he? ;) But okay, this book is not full of happy funny scenes. It's really serious too. The situation for Ronnie at her dad's place isn't as easy as it could be. Stalking guy, malicious girl, problems with the police. Though she grows with what she gets. In the middle of the book I guessed what the titel may mean and my suspicion was right. Well, I don't think the book/plot really needs this tragical twist but -again- Sparks will not let your eyes dry ;) All in all: The book is great. Maybe I liked it even better than "The Notebook". And that means a lot! :) I'm curious to watch the movie with Miley Cyrus. But can I go to the cinema with being surrounded by hundreds of 12-year-old Hannah Montana fans?
