It's more of a 3.5 ;-) ********************************* Well this was a fun read! Dante in all his awesomeness takes "some" getting used to - yes, he really is arrogant, cocky and selfish and very well aware & proud of it - but after a few chapters you just have to like him. I'll admit at first I wasn't convinced because he seemed like a shallow jerk. However it didn't take him long to leave some of his superficial attitude behind - he showed me that he is not one of those terrible teenagers who exclude others because of what they look like. And as soon as that was apparent I was sold. I like him but I wouldn't want to date him. While he ultimately is a great guy he wouldn't be my type - sorry about that Dante ;-) - but I get why Charlie likes him. He does act quite swoon-worthy throughout the book - especially towards the end. I don't really want to give anything away about the plot so I'll just finish with saying that I enjoyed this book a lot. It was great fun and, while I did see the end coming (!!!SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER: everyone who knows the title of the next book saw it coming I guess !!!END OF SPOILER!!!!) I had no clue who the bad guy could be. I had my suspicions but they were totally off so props for that one, Ms Scott! Often it is way too obvious who's on Team Good/Evil but in this case I didn't even saw it coming. The end, I admit, was a tiny bit rushed and I would have liked it if we had gotten a few more explanations but I guess since book #2 is out in the late summer/early fall I can forgive that. Another good thing is that it did not end with a Cliffhanger - I do enjoy finishing a book without being left with my heart racing from shock and feeling desperate to keep on reading. It is relaxing & does wonders for my good nights sleep! I am sure that a lot of people will enjoy this book because it is perfect for a lazy afternoon. It doesn't leave you breathless after the last word is read but it does make you with for more. It is witty and adorable and gives us, as a social side-note, a very upfront message about physical beauty - I just hoped everyone would stop being as superficial as some of those high schoolers are. But enough about social scrutiny because that really isn't what this is about. Go and read this book. I cannot imagine a reason why you wouldn't like it (if this is your normal reading genre that is..)
