If you're looking for a book with a sweet and romantic small-town story, Cinnamon bun Bookstore is a good choice. The story, like its predecessor "Pumpkin Spice cafe", is set in the same small town, Dream Harbour, and this time features a character we met in the first book, the towns bookseller and Logans (book 1 mmc) best friend. Hazel is a young woman approaching 30 who is struggling with aging, something that many young women in their late 20s can sympathize with, which I thought was a good thing. We all know the feeling of having missed out on something in life, of perhaps having lived too boringly and quietly. And it's the same with Hazel. So before she turns 30, she wants to spice up her life a little and be more spontaneous. We've all been there, when everyday life catches up with us and we wonder if that's all there is to life? Isn't there more? Hazel herself is a relatively clever and pleasant person, she is not overly stupid or naive. She's a bit nerdy, but I liked that. I don't have much to complain about Noah, the MMC either, except that his self-doubt got on my nerves sometimes. Still, even here, for example, it's easy to see that only because you're born with everything: Money, good parents, good looks: it does not mean you always win in life. You sympathize with him, his thoughts of not being good enough, or never making his family proud again. Ultimately, the story is about 2 young adults who come together and help each other overcome their doubts. I quite liked the concept. However, I have to say that I liked the first book in the series a little better. So it didn't quite blow me away. But the design is very cute. There was just something missing in the second book that wasn't in the first. But I can't say what. Maybe it was the lack of thrills, because you already knew that they liked each other a lot? I wasn't really surprised. Besides, the spice came pretty quickly, because they had a so-called friendship + relationship that started relatively early in the book. A slight criticism would also be that, as a book lover myself, it bothered me a bit that the book is about a book seller, but we barely have any encounters with the MMC and the FMC in the bookstore. Generally, they talk about books a few times, and we know he buys books from her to be close to her, and ends up reading and liking them, but I would have liked more detail there between them. The first book was relatively often about Jeanie and her new café, which was somehow missing here.
🍁 Really enjoyable with a smooth flow. Cozy autumns with this one. Needed something healthy anyway. 🍂
