Rezension von VerenaHCWas soll ich sagen - ein außergewöhnliches Buch. Fantasy, besser gesagt Urban Fantasy, aber irgendwie anders. Ich habe bis jetzt nicht viel Urban Fantasy gelesen und wurde mit diesem Genre nie richtig warm, aber dieses Buch ist anders. Es erinnert etwas an ein Märchen, aber ein etwas dunkles mit ein paar recht gruseligen, unappetitlichen Szenen, aber auch mit viel Humor. Die Geschichte spielt größtenteils im London Below, eine Stadt unter London, von der die normalen Londoner nichts wissen. In einem Interview am Ende des Buches erzählt Neil Gaiman, dass er die unterirdischen Abwasserkanäle von London besucht hat und beeindruckt war. Sie entsprechen NICHT dem Klischee: stinkend, schmutzig und voller Ratten. Ich habe das Buch in Englisch gelesen und parallel das Hörbuch, das von Neil Gaiman selbst gelesen wird, gehört. Dadurch wurde das Ganze noch viel lebendiger. Das war mein erstes Buch von Neil Gaiman und ganz sicherlich nicht das Letzte.
