He tackles the obstacles with his usual good humour, and with the help of some unexpected allies. In The Changing Scenes of Life the new church is ready to open, but, as usual, this does not pass off without incident. Mr Rural Dean opens with Fred three years into his life in Abergelly, and heavily involved with the local Gilbert and Sullivan Society's production of The Pirates of Penzance. Then the Rural Dean is fatally injured - could this change everything for Fred?
