Ich fand leider dass einige Unstimmigkeiten drin waren und die erste Hälfte konnte mich nicht so wirklich fesseln, danach wurde es besser

This is gonna be a very difficult review. I had to think a lot on how to rate it and in the end I’m settled on giving this book 3,5 stars. Unfortunately this in not possible on GoodReads so that’s why you see 4 stars in this review. Firstly, I am coming to tell you the things I absolutely loved about this book: The story takes place in Italy in the 19th century - the fashion alone makes me dream. This just gets better, because Emilia is part of an Italian family that owns a fantastic restaurant. So be prepared to get cravings for some mozzarella, olive oil and garlic. The atmosphere in this book really is breathtaking. The enemies to lovers trope gets me every time. I love the bickering between two characters who secretly fall for each other. The sparks and the tension between Emilia and Wrath were perfekt. I need more of them. I am also decidedly in love with Wrath - a demon prince. That’s one of my weaknesses along with winged males and the enemies to lovers trope. So why didn’t I love this book as much as I should have? Emilia was a very special character. She got upset about the smallest things and while she got when people are withholding important information, she didn’t press them about it. It felt like her actions and sometimes the lack thereof were designed to form the storyline rather than to build a solid, authentic character. There are still to many unanswered questions left and some logical errors. For example, at first Emilia is so close with her family, but when she leaves for a bit, she doesn’t even think about them and they don’t miss her. Also, some people just don’t seem to have a purpose in the story which felt like lost potential... The cliffhanger was perfect and I will certainly be picking up the sequel, because for all it’s flaws, I was not able to but this book down. Also I NEED more of Wrath!
