teils etwas langweilig, aber im großen und ganzen ist der einblick in cardans leben dann doch schon ein schöner backtrack in die welt von elfhame:)

It was lovely to revisit the characters again after 4 years.

LarisaRezension von Larisa

"Villains were wonderful. They got to be cruel and selfish, to preen in front of mirrors and poison apples, and trap girls on mountains of glass. They indulged all of their worst impulses, revenged themselves for the least offense, and took every last thing they wanted." It was a nice story following the "Cruel Prince" book series. It gives you more insight into Cardan's thoughts and past, which I liked because who does not love a likeable, morally grey villain turned hero? And of course I loved that Holly Black gave us more scenes with Cardan and Jude together. The enemies-to-lovers-trope was heavily used and it was magnificent! "She wants to fight monsters, and she wants him for a lover, the same boy she fantasized about murdering." Slay, king and queen

I loooved going back to Cardans world. This book is absolutely beautiful: written and illustrated! I can’t get over how Black once again brought these characters to live, making them as sassy and lovely as ever and giving us a behind the scenes at it’s best. I wish this series would be endless and had a new book coming every year, since I like Blacks style of writing and Elfhame just so much! For everyone feeling the same about this, you should definitely check out this magical edition! Especially with those illustrations it’s a real piece of art and a short little break of reality.
