Armentrout ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ 4,25 stars I finally decided to pick up another fantasy novel and chose this one, and I don’t regret that decision at all. The world-building was one of my favorite aspects of the book, and for me, that’s one of the most important elements in any fantasy story. There were a few moments that frustrated me, mainly because Poppy’s inner thoughts could feel a bit repetitive at times, which occasionally pulled me out of the story. However, it never became a major issue. What I absolutely loved was the banter between Poppy and Hawke. Their chemistry was incredible from the very beginning, and I found myself rooting for them throughout the entire book. The only thing that slightly disappointed me was that I figured out the big plot twist fairly early on, so when it was finally revealed, it didn’t come as much of a surprise. Even so, I thoroughly enjoyed the story and can’t wait to see where it goes next. I’ll definitely be buying the rest of the series. And can we talk about Hawke for a second? I genuinely loved his character and liked him from the moment he appeared. If you’re looking for a new fantasy series to dive into, I highly recommend giving this one a try.

Rezension von Lea-SophieIch habe mal wieder eine neue Romantasy-Reihe angefangen. Gerade bei so langen Reihen ist das ja meistens nicht so einfach, aber in die Story von Poppy bin ich erstaunlich gut reingekommen. ☺️ Ich möchte gar nicht zu viel zum Inhalt der Geschichte erzählen, weil die Hauptfigur Poppy zu Beginn selbst nur sehr wenig über ihr eigenes Leben weiß und man als Leser:in mit ihr zusammen die Geheimnisse aufdeckt. Ganz kurz gesagt ist Poppy aber die „Auserwählte“, die ein sehr eingeschränktes Leben führt, mit kaum jemandem sprechen darf und auf ein mysteriöses Ritual vorbereitet wird, dass das Königreich retten soll. ALLES ändert sich jedoch, als sie einen neuen Leibwächter namens Hawke bekommt… Was soll ich sagen, ich hatte gemischte Meinungen zu der Reihe gehört und mochte das Buch sehr gerne. Die Plottwists haben mich komplett gekriegt, ich mag die Nebencharaktere sehr, das Worldbuilding ist sehr unique und gleichzeitig interessant und ich liiiiebe den männlichen Love Interest
