Absolutely LOVEDD this book. As someone who was probably in one of the most massive reading slumps for about two years, I think I can finally say that I‘m back to reading (although I did fight myself through Binding & Keeping 13 before picking up The Ever King). I literally just finished this book as I am writing this and I can‘t wait to start The Ever Queen tomorrow. From the first page on, I was hooked. This is one of those books where something happens on almost every page, so it doesn‘t get boring! However, as much as I enjoyed this book, I do acknowledge that some people might not enjoy it as much due to the following points: - NOT a real Enemies-to-Lovers They don‘t hate eachother. Not in the beginning, not ever. Yes, Livia probably did dislike Erik a bit in the very beginning, but mostly due to fear. However, they‘re immediately attracted to each other. Now, hear me out, it makes sense why it is written that way (you‘ll understand once you‘ve read the book). Plus, I still loved the banter and the tension between them, - Pace All in all, I‘d say the story is medium to fast paced. This is definitely not a slowburn, but I didn‘t mind that at all. I know that there are a lot of people who don‘t like it when the main characters get together halfway through the book, so that‘s something to keep in mind if you plan on reading this. - Fantasy Aspect The world is absolutely beautiful and the magic system is very intriguing. Also, it isn‘t very complicated and rather light fantasy, so perfect for beginners, but not something if you‘re looking for a very fantasy heavy book. ————————————————————————————— Now, the characters are all very interesting and unique. They all have their own stories you figure out throughout the book. The character development of our mmc and fmc is definitely noticeable and very interesting to see. Honestly, I adore Livia. Maybe it‘s because the last couple of books I read the fmc was always so shy, vulnerable, innocent, and helpless, but I think she‘s a badass. In the beginning, I was pretty indifferent about Erik, but now I love him just as much, if not more. To sum it up, this book is perfect if you want a fun, quick read, and a break from long, complicated fantasy romance series. Even trying out fantasy for the first time should be absolutely no problem. This book deserves a lot more hype!
