Daughter of the Reich is a beautiful, well-written story that i loved from beginning to end. Told in the 1930s, pre-WWII, Hetty is the daughter of a high ranking official who falls in love with a Jewish boy, who was friends with her older brother before the Nazi regime. Hetty is taught to believe that she should not associate with Jews and acts as she is told but then she begins to see things differently and how her childhood friends are treated and begins to question this. She then begins a secret and quite dangerous relationship with Walter and tries to protect him and others. My favorite genre is historical fiction and it was refreshing to read a book from the POV of a German during these times. I highly recommend this book if you are a fan of historical fiction.
