This is the first collection of short stories by Stephen King that I've read, and it didn't disappoint. Half of these 20 spooky tales, ranging from the macabre to the maddening, were adapted into a film or TV show. Early King works were a product of their time. Some words and phrases have fallen out of favor, yet the stories—tales of plagues, serial killers and siblings—remain relevant. King employs a workmanlike prose that keeps his "constant readers" engrossed. These yarns were a joy to read and King only got better. I'll be reading more of his short stories. That is all.
