Rezension von nessaboSchöne Idee, die leider inhaltlich und emotional schwach umgesetzt wurde Ich mag Graphic Novels und queere noch einmal mehr. Als großer „Heartstopper“-Fan war ich deshalb voller Vorfreude auf „Bloom“. Doch handlungstechnisch und auch emotional bleibe ich leider enttäuscht zurück. Die Graphic Novel lässt sich ganz entspannt in einem Rutsch lesen und ich mochte den Zeichenstil gern. Das Blau zieht sich durch das komplette Buch und mir wäre dann irgendwann schon ein wenig mehr Farbe lieber gewesen, aber das kritisiere ich nicht gesondert, weil es eben das gewählte Stilmittel ist. Doch besonders in der zweiten Hälfte passiert so viel und wird doch nie wirklich tief behandelt. Aris Musikleidenschaft, seine Zukunftspläne, die sich verändernden Freund*innenschaften, die angespannte Situation zu seinen Eltern und schließlich die zarte Liebe zu Hector - alles passiert viel zu schnell oder wird thematisch einfach plötzlich fallengelassen. Und besonders die Liebesbeziehung habe ich überhaupt nicht gefühlt, der Aufbau war meiner Meinung nach gar nicht da und das beim eigentlichen Hauptthema. Zwischendrin hatte ich zudem wiederholt das Gefühl, dass mir Informationen fehlen, um die Situation nachvollziehen zu können. Ich bin also wirklich super traurig, dass ich der Graphic Novel deshalb nur 2,5 Sterne (ggf. aufgerundet für die Queerness: 3) geben kann. Aber emotional und inhaltlich blieb mir viel zu viel unerzählt oder oberflächlich abgehandelt. Auch fehlte mir eine charakterliche Entwicklung der Protagonist*innen und die Greifbarkeit der vielen Nebenfiguren. Gut 100 Seiten mehr hätten dem Buch wahrscheinlich gut getan. So haben wir zwar ein flüssig lesbares, aber irgendwie auch emotional flaches Werk bekommen, das sich nicht rund anfühlt. 😢
