Rezension von Caroll-Ann📖 Behind the Net by Stephanie Archer ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I went into this book completely blind. I just wanted a hockey romance, saw that this one was available on Kindle Unlimited, and decided to give it a try. The story follows Pippa, who starts working as the personal assistant of professional hockey player Jamie — who also happens to be her old high school crush. When Jamie asks her to move in with him, their forced proximity quickly turns into something more, especially when they decide to pretend to be a couple. Along the way, Pippa is also trying to rebuild her confidence and find her way back to her music after her ex damaged both her confidence and her career. I’m honestly not sure how I feel about this one. I really enjoyed Pippa and Jamie’s chemistry, and I liked that the book touched on topics like self-confidence, panic attacks, and finding the courage to pursue your dreams again. Those aspects gave the story some emotional potential. Unfortunately, I felt like that potential wasn’t fully used. For a book that is over 400 pages long, I expected a lot more depth, especially when it came to the characters and their relationship. There were so many moments where I thought the story could have gone deeper emotionally or given us more development between the two of them. I also think there was room for more memorable romantic and spicy moments. Overall, this book was kind of meh for me. It wasn’t bad, and I definitely enjoyed parts of it, especially the chemistry, but it also didn’t really leave a lasting impression on me.
