All the Stars
von Keisha Powers
Love. Let's talk about love.Is it anything and everything you hoped for? Or do the feeling haunt you?I know the feeling haunt you.All The Stars- SZA/Kendrick Lamar- The Black Panther SoundtrackAn unlikely pair, Zaire Jefferson and Pharaoh Knight have been besties since high school: Zaire being a straight A student with the primary goal of making her parents proud and Pharaoh being a nonchalant, cocky, Brooklyn bred B-Boy with an arrogant attitude and a better than thou persona. Now years later, the two are just as inseparable.Their strangely close and unbreakable bond leave many, including those closest to the two, assuming that it would be just a matter of time before they become a hot item. The love that they have for one another is so strong, anyone with eyes can recognize it a mile away.Zaire is beautiful, smart and incredibly business savvy. Working as the Senior Recruiting Manager with her employer for 5 years, she continues to impress the higher ups, so much that she is reluctantly assigned to a three month project, helping to get the company's new branch stationed in Miami, staff for their Grand Opening, with promises of a promotion upon her return. What Zaire learns, is that Miami has other promises in store for her as well, which leads her into the arms of a charming Afro-Cuban native, who takes his time, introducing her to the rich culture, amazing attractions and marvelous, tropical scenery within the confines of the beautiful city.Pharaoh with his overprotective and extra watchful eye seems to have a problem with any guy getting close to his sister-friend. Known for donating his two cents, especially in times when he wasn't asked, his hounding ways can sometimes go entirely too far for Zaire's liking, as it had in making mention of her new Cuban love interest via a routine telephone conversation that sends him over the edge and booking the next flight out to "set her straight".Unfortunately for Zaire, telling him to bud out is like speaking to a brick wall as Pharaoh is adamant about protecting her, the only woman he has ever truly respected and admired in a city where he has convinced himself that options are limited. He had always gone hard for her with his life and will do anything that he can to protect her from falling victim to the wrong guy. One with a playerish agenda. A guy like him.Extremely good looking, overly confident, mysteriously intelligent and a successful businessman, Pharaoh has a BIG Apple attitude with an ego to match. Spoiled and used to getting his way, it had been no different in his expectations of the ladies. But there is more to this Brooklyn born heart throb than what meets the eye. Genuine, trustworthy, spiritually connected and in tune with the cosmos, he keeps grounded, as well as lifted, shooting for the stars in his strong Ancient African Kemetic faith. From Milwaukee, WI to Miami, FL to Nassau, Bahamas, it is his connection to the stars, along with his love for Zaire that sets up an unexpected whirlwind drama so breathtaking and so eye opening, it teaches him the beauty in the lesson to never judge a book by it's cover.AUTHOR'S NOTE:At the tender age of 13, Keisha Powers wrote her first book which unfortunately went to ruins in a flood, after sitting in the basement at her parents' home for a long number of years. Now, after continuous motivation from her family and loved ones, she followed her passion by once again tapping into her universally gifted talent to deliver her first novel to the masses, All The Stars.
