The idea of a witch accidentally summoning a demon and having to navigate a fake relationship could have been an engaging mix of humor, romance, and magic. However, the book unfortunately didn’t take full advantage of its premise to create a rich, immersive world. The fantasy aspects felt underdeveloped, and the magical setting lacked the depth and complexity that would have brought the story to life. While the characters had their moments, the overall storyline felt predictable and flat, with little in the way of surprising twists or emotional depth. I had hoped the book would delve more deeply into the magical elements and explore the dynamics between witches and demons in a meaningful way. Instead, the focus seemed to lean more heavily on the romance without fully integrating the fantasy components. That said, the book might appeal to readers looking for a light, low-stakes romantic comedy with a touch of magic. But for those hoping for a more immersive fantasy world or a complex, layered plot, it may leave you wanting more.

Loving them as they are, not how you want them to be.”</i></b></blockquote> Esse livro tinha tudo pra ser um favorito - um romance entre uma bruxa atrapalhada e o demônio gato que ela invoca acidentalmente, aquele climinha de rom-com delicioso….e assim, por boa parte do livro, gostei muito do clima entre os personagens, o romance é bem fofinho e a química é de milhões. Achei interessante o plot da floresta e dos poderes da Mariel, a dinâmica familiar dela e a evolução dela ao longo do livro foram muito boas. Mas o conflito perto do final do livro me incomodou bastante, por que não fez sentido com a personalidade da Mariel e parece que foi colocado ali só para separar o casal antes do fim. Aliás, o final do livro me emocionou bastante e talvez tenha salvado o livro de cair mais de avaliação. Fiquei interessada no plot da continuação, que vai focar na amiga da Mariel e um outro personagem importante aqui, mas a construção e escrita de algumas coisas aqui não me agradaram tanto e os personagens em si, principalmente a amiga, foram personagens que eu desgostei bastante ao longo do livro, então não tenho interesse em seguir uma história só deles. Foi uma leitura gostosinha? Sim, me diverti em vários momentos, me identifiquei com a protagonista, shippei o casal. Mas poderia ter sido melhor em alguns aspectos? Claro e com certeza.

The author was really good at building up (sexual) tension between the characters but that's honestly it. All the characters are rather one dimensional, everything is portrayed to the reader nose on and don't get me started on the names... But despite all odds, I had a lot of fun reading this. Most of all the book kept me interested enough to keep me reading. This is not a literary milestone but if you need an easy and fun read (if you can look past the mediocre plot and very fast pacing) this is a book for you.
