I liked the last book in the series the most - the characters had more room to develop, I saw much more of the world and also got to know other places. The good description of the surroundings and events allowed me to visualise everything in detail. My head is full of ideas for the next art projects. “You have to take the long view, Tom. It isn't only Traction Cities which poison the air and tear up the earth. All cities do that, static or mobile. It's human beings that are the problem. Everything that they do pollutes and destroys.” Again and again I realise, no matter when books were written, that we are aware of how much we are damaging our planet and yet we do nothing about it. I have seen and analysed these parallels and behaviours with our fellow human beings in these books. The author has definitely addressed important issues. I don't want to spoil too much, but the ending brought me to tears. What a poetic conclusion to the series - I felt like I'd landed in the Ghibli film "The Castle in the Sky". I'm a little sad to be saying goodbye to this world and have seen that there is a prequel trilogy that I will definitely be reading. An extremely underrated book series with lots of dystopia, steampunk and sci-fi elements. 5/5 ⭐
